Agroforestry for the future: sustainability and income generation through carbon neutrality and the strengthening of rural communities.

As part of the RegeneRaízes environmental pillar, Instituto Justiça (IJ), in partnership with Agroforestry Carbon, implemented four agroforestry systems in the states of São Paulo, Santa Catarina, and Pará. This initiative combines sustainability, food security, and social development.

In addition to planting, the project provided training for farmers and local communities, teaching efficient and sustainable techniques, encouraging rural entrepreneurship, and promoting awareness of the importance of environmental conservation.

Agroforestry is a practice that integrates the cultivation of native trees with agricultural crops, regenerating degraded areas and promoting food security in a sustainable way.

The strength of this method lies in the synergy between native and agricultural species, which enriches the soil, promotes more abundant harvests, and eliminates the need for crop rotation. This directly contributes to income generation and the strengthening of family farming.

This initiative also had a significant environmental impact: the implemented agroforestry systems neutralized all the carbon emitted by the Porsche Cup Challenge Brazil category in 2024.
