Reestruturação de Lares

Project partner
Following the commitment to support families in Rio Grande do Sul after the floods that affected several communities, the Instituto Justiça (IJ) started the Homes Restructuring project (RS). This initiative emerged as a second phase of the solidarity movement, to help people return to their homes and rebuild their routines with dignity and safety.

By joining forces with partners – Vakinha, Dr. Hamilton Dias de Souza, Jaloreto Associados, Badin o Colono, Pretinho Básico, Edson, and the collective Vamos Ajudar o RS –, the IJ was able to support 530 families in cities of the Vale do Taquari (Muçum, Encantado, Roca Sales, Lajeado, Putinga, Arroio do Meio, Relvado, and Cruzeiro do Sul).
The Vale do Taquari region is located in the center of the state of Rio Grande do Sul and concentrated the most affected areas by the floods in 2024. With the river level rising 24 meters above its normal bed, about 1.4 thousand people were directly impacted, nearly 60% of the Vale's population.
To support the reconstruction of communities, the institute raised more than R$ 618 thousand and acquired 1,135 essential items, such as stoves, refrigerators, wardrobes, and kitchen cabinet kits.
In addition to the material damage, many families experienced a great emotional shock upon losing their homes. Therefore, the Restructuring of Homes aimed not only to provide goods but, above all, to bring hope and conditions for a fresh start.
